The famous churches and chapels
- King's College Chapel: the supreme achievement of English Perpendicular Gothic, with the world-famous Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols broadcast from here each Christmas Eve. Evensong in term is open to all without charge.

Church life in the city today
Cambridge's student congregations are among the largest in the country. St Andrew the Great and Eden Baptist Church fill with undergraduates in term, Holy Trinity and St Barnabas serve town and gown together, and C3 and other newer churches meet in schools and conference spaces around the science parks. The city's growth as a technology hub has brought international congregations, including Chinese, Korean and Iranian fellowships, and the Catholic parishes serve a notably global community. Beyond the centre, Chesterton, Cherry Hinton and Trumpington keep their medieval parish churches in daily use, a reminder that Cambridge was a market town long before it was a university.

Who was Charles Simeon?
Vicar of Holy Trinity from 1782 to 1836, Simeon mentored generations of Cambridge students and helped found the Church Missionary Society. His influence on evangelical Christianity worldwide is hard to overstate, and his church still serves the city.
