Pembrokeshire holds the spiritual capital of Wales: St Davids, Britain's smallest city, gathered around the cathedral that shelters the shrine of the national patron saint. Two medieval pilgrimages to St Davids were reckoned equal to one to Rome, and pilgrims still come. Coastal villages keep chapels and ancient parish churches alike.
